Hi guys! It’s been a while. I figured I would come back again and this time update you all on my new favorite clothes store in Rome! I was actually really sad about a year ago because to be honest, roman fashion really sucks. Most of the boutiques sell either very boring clothes or really wild 2004-2008 esque styles. I ride my bike down via Nazionale most mornings, and I noticed the cute display at MuSu and had to come back. So here is my review!

Initial Impressions: Let me tell you, if you love soft or girly Korean/chinese/japanese fashion then MuSu will make your pinboard dreams come true! There were two people on the floor working and my friend and I were greeted. OMGGG the store is sooo cuteee. Everything inside is pink with black and neutral details. The store was very organized and not overwhelming with clothes and also not too little selection. It was also pretty spacious. I really hate boutiques that feel cramped and stuffy, but there was lots of room here to walk around and different zones, so it was fun to feel like I could move on to the next room when I finished choosing clothes from one! I will note that some of the jewelry here are knock off van cleef/cartier etc, but they also have some unique non branded jewelry that are super cute! I saw a thin wire heart shaped gold bracelet that I wish I got. Lighting was perfect and the temperature was perfect as well (keep in mind I was here in January and most Romans are not actually in Rome during the hottest parts of the year, but places like San Benedetto (Italy’s version of SoCal) etc).

Shopping: At first it felt a little like they were hovering, but I realized it’s more of a service thing! Anything I picked up was taken to a fitting room by one of the sales associates to get started! I tried on a bunch of things and there was no hassle. I was obsessed! Almost everything in store is “marked down,” but be aware that most of the boutiques in Rome do this and it’s basically just the normal price lol. I also found that the size selection was decent, I am a size US 4 so almost everything in store was available for me–I would say that the larger sizes were noticeably missing, but I think its because they have a lot of the stock in the back and only 1 piece in each size on the floor, so don’t be afraid to ask. There are a lot of fitting rooms. Inside there is a small table for you to place your bag, as well as a seat and adequate hooks to organize. Sadly there is no mirror inside the fitting room, so you have to walk out every time to check the mirrors, but the mirrors are very big and the lighting is nice on the floor. Outside of the fitting rooms on the floor, they also had a few seats available so my friend sat there because she finished trying on her things early and helped me choose! (Seats are also great for dad’s boyfriend’s etc. who need a break from walking in Rome while us girls shop).

Quality: The quality is mixed here. The highlight of the items I bought was the jeans/pants! They were wide legged with gold colored buttons and square pockets in the back and made of 98% cotton and 2% elastic. It felt so good to wear and made my legs look niceeee. The other cardigan and shirt set was not great quality–acrylic or something like that–but it was so cute! The inner shirt and cardigan also felt soft so I let it pass. However, I probably wouldn’t have purchased everything without the pants. I would say the store is very similar to & Other Stories, insofar as there is a mix of decent and low quality fabric with pretty styles but with a better price point. However, I wouldn’t come here if I was looking for a more advanced or crafted piece. These are super cute going to class/out to lunch clothes that can double in Rome (with its some 900 churches) as appreciate clothes to hop in random churches or have aperitivos in.

Payment: Sadly they do not accept American Express, so I used my visa through Samsung Pay! The total for my whole outfit was $40 for the pants and $90 for the Cardigan and Shirt. I would say the shirt and cardigan were a tad expensive, given the materials, but I really loved how cute the whole outfit was! Also the experience was so fun! I suggest you wear flats or something easy to slip on and off because you will be trying on so many cute clothes here! Overall, I’m so happy that I’ve found MuSu, and I’m so excited to come back!
